The Dholera Solar Park is a major 5,000 MW (5 GW) solar power project located in the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR) of Gujarat, which will make it one of Asia's largest single-location solar power projects once fully operational. Phase 1 of the Dholera Solar Park, planned at 1,000 MW, has moved into active operations, marking a key milestone in the clean energy growth of Dholera Smart City. Project Details & Status
Located near TP-4, the Dholera solar power initiative is utilizing expansive barren land with limited alternative use, converting it into a productive, technology-led renewable energy zone that supports sustainable development.
- Total Planned Capacity: 5,000 MW.
- Operational Capacity: Phase I, a 1000 MW Tata Power solar project, has been successfully operational since April 2022, utilizing high-efficiency industrial solar panels.
- Location: Situated within the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR), approximately 80 km from Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
- Development Phases: The project is divided into two main phases. The first 1 GW phase is being developed by GPCL, and the second 4 GW phase is being handled by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI).
- Current Status (early 2026): The initial phase is fully operational, with future stages currently under construction or tendering. A significant portion of the total capacity is expected to be grid-ready by late 2026.
- Technology: The park uses India's largest single-axis solar tracker system and monocrystalline PV modules to maximize output.

The availability of dedicated green power has triggered a surge in solar cell manufacturing within the city. Global tech giants are drawn to the region's sustainability, managed via the ABCD Building in Dholera, which acts as the centralized brain for the city's smart grid and utility services.

Beyond energy, the city is defined by world-class infrastructure. The Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway has revolutionized Connectivity in Dholera, creating a high-speed corridor for industries. Simultaneously, the Dholera International Airport location is being developed as a premier logistics hub, ensuring that goods produced here have a direct flight path to global markets.
Supporting Infrastructure and Future Growth
Beyond the solar park, Dholera Smart City is developing comprehensive infrastructure to support its growth. This includes the ABCD Building, which centralizes the management of the city's smart grid and utilities. Enhanced connectivity is being provided by the Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway, improving transportation and logistics. Additionally, the planned Dholera International Airport aims to establish the region as a significant hub for global trade and transportation.
